Timpe Scholarship: Dr. Eugene F. Timpe was the founder of FLIT at SIU in 1986 and its Director for the next fourteen years. At the time, it was an innovative program with only a few similar programs nation-wide, none of them offering as many languages and requiring an international internship. It was through his proactive fund-raising, organization, and administration that FLIT came to be the outstanding program that it is today, serving as a model for higher education. One of his last goals was to create a scholarship to help student interns defray costs and it is largely through his generous donations that the scholarship is available. Donations can be made online at the SIU Foundation, or you can make checks payable to the SIU Foundation/Timpe Scholarship.
Bradley Alexander Scholarship: This award is made possible by the generous donations of Bradley Alexander, a FLIT (Spanish) alumnus who appreciates the value of his own study abroad experience. This $250.00 award goes to a FLIT (Spanish) major who will study abroad in a country where Spanish is spoken. Donations can be made online at the SIU Foundation, or you can make checks payable to the SIU Foundation/Bradley Alexander Scholarship.
