Welcome to Philosophy
Philosophy at SIU Carbondale offers a major and a minor in philosophy, as well as a pre-law specialization. The Philosophy program is a pluralistic one with undergraduate courses in a variety of traditions.
Our internationally-recognized faculty have various specializations: history of philosophy, logic, ethics, metaphysics, political and legal philosophy, the philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, and philosophy of religion.
We are also the home to unique research centers and curated volumes that attract scholars on a global scale to convene and research from our Southern Illinois campus.
