Marie-Jose Southworth Award for Achievement in Foreign Languages and Literatures
Current Award Information
Approximately $300.00 will be awarded to current foreign language majors in the spring semester.
Requirements:
- Be a foreign language major currently enrolled in any foreign language course offered by the Department of Languages, Cultures, and International Trade
- Have completed at least two semesters of a foreign language at SIU
- Show outstanding achievement in foreign language study, usually beyond
intermediate level. In the event that students’ applications seem equally meritorious, preference will be given to students who show evidence of hardship or financial need - Minimum GPA 3.0
Students may nominate themselves, or faculty may nominate students. Students applying for this award must ask a Languages, Cultures, and International Trade faculty member to submit a recommendation on their behalf.
Application deadline is January 31 - no applications will be accepted past deadline
