
Psychology Degree Requirements
There are two (2) types of requirements to complete a B.A. degree in Psychology: those required by the College of Liberal Arts (CoLA) and those required by the Department of Psychology.

Requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Degree (CoLA)
- University Core Curriculum requirements (41 credits)
- College of Liberal Arts requirements (14 credits)
- Requirements for Psychology Major (see below) (37-40 credits)
- Electives (25-34 credits)
- Total of 120 credit hours
Requirements for a Major in Psychology (Psychology)
The Psychology major requires a minimum of fourteen (14) Psychology & one (1) Mathematics course. Please click here for undergraduate course descriptions.
Required Courses
- Psyc 102 Introduction to Psychology (“C” or better)
- Psyc 202 Careers in Psychology (“C” or better) OR UCOL 101P (Freshman)
- Psyc 211 Research Methods in Psychology (“C” or better)
- Psyc 311 Field Research Methods (“C” or better)
- Math 139 (recommended), 101 (formerly 113) 108, 110, 111, OR 140
Psychology Electives
- Choose 10 courses
- At least 1 course each from Groups A, B, & C (see below)
- At least 6 total from Groups A, B, & C
- The remaining 4 courses may be any courses from the list
- At least 3 courses must be at the 400-level from Groups A, B, or C OR 489
- Only 3 credits of 391, 392, 393, or 394 may count toward the major

No more than five transfer courses can count for the major. Students need an overall GPA of 2.0 across all Psychology courses.
