
Minors
A minor in history consists of 18 semester hours. Students are encouraged to take courses in at least two of the three fields of American, European, or Third World history. Transfer students, in order to have a minor in history, must have taken at least nine semester hours in history at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
The department also has professors who serve as advisors for several interdisciplinary minors in which history courses are included: Native American Studies, Latino and Latin American Studies, Peace Studies, Environmental Studies, Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies and American Studies.
