Annual WGSS Cross-Disciplinary Conference

Every year, the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program at SIU holds a campus-wide, cross-disciplinary conference to showcase the research and creative endeavors of its students and faculty. Both Graduate and Undergraduate students from an array of majors and colleges across the campus present on a range of topics central to the program.

WGSS at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale aims to highlight the work of gender and sexuality studies students from across the region. We welcome submissions for paper presentations, art and performance pieces, and thematic panel proposals.

Location: SIU, Carbondale (Student Center, 2nd Floor) Date: April 10, 2020

Keynote Speaker: Alaysia Brandy, an SIU cheerleader who took a knee during the national anthem to protest police brutality.

Call for Submissions! Deadline: February 14

-For paper presentations: Submit a title and a 150-word abstract.
-For art and performance pieces: Submit a title and a 150-word description of project; include a short extract from poem, play, etc. and images if appropriate (photo of art piece, for example). Plan on 15-minutes for performance/reading. -For panel proposals: Submit a title, a 150-word description, and a list of panelists.

*All submissions should include: name(s), year, major and minor—or area of study for graduate students—and university/college affiliation.
