Major in Philosophy

The student electing to major in philosophy should consult with Andrew Youpa, the program's Director of Undergraduate Studies (click link to email Dr. Youpa). Early in the senior year, majors should contact a faculty member to direct the writing of the senior thesis. Philosophy majors will satisfy the College of Liberal Arts Writing-Across-the-Curriculum requirement by passing Philosophy 304, 305a, and 305b. A minor is not required for a major in philosophy, though it is recommended that the student take a foreign language, such as Greek, Latin, French, or German.
