Philosopher Jenn Roche Takes Prize for Paper

Graduate Student Jenn Roche

Graduate student in Philosophy Jennifer L. Roche carried home the Harry Todd Costello Prize for her presentation at the ”Royce, California, and the World Conference” entitled “Josiah Royce on Imagination.” Jenn’s philosophical interests center on American thought and pragmatism, how imagination helps us know the world, as well as Vico and philosophy of culture.

The recent conference, which was co-sponsored by the Josiah Royce Sociey, took place in August in Grass Valley, CA, Royce’s birthplace. The occasion marked the 100th anniversary of Royce’s masterwork, The Problem of Christianity. Professor Randall E. Auxier, who is general editor for the Royce critical edition, served as program co-chair for the event.
