Georges Bizet's immensely popular opera, Carmen, tells the story of the downfall of Don José, a naïve soldier who is seduced by the wiles of the fiery gypsy Carmen. The music of Carmen has been acclaimed for its brilliance of melody, harmony, atmosphere and orchestration. Bizet is also skilled in the way he represents musically the emotions and suffering of his characters. Directed by Josh Shaw, the cast features the glorious mezzo soprano voice of Dawn Pierce as Carmen, the exciting tenor Brian Cheney as Don José, Southern Illinois' own David Dillard and Eric McCluskey as Escamillo and Morales, and a fabulous supporting cast and chorus. Don't miss this exciting event presented by Southern Illinois Music Festival 2013!
