I Cinque Elementi to give three Carbondale performances Dec. 13-15

I Cinque Elementi, a wind quintet from Padova, Itali, will be performing three exclusive public concerts in Carbondale. The quintet, whose name is Italian for the five elements, is a musical ensemble that performs both chamber music and new music. The ensemble's members have won first prizes of major musical contests throughout Europe and perform regularly with major European orchestras.

In addition to performing as part of the Southern Illinois Symphony for the upcoming Nutrcracker ballet, the ensemble will give three performances, open and free to the public, at the following times and venues:

  • Thursday, December 13, 11:00 a.m., in the Morris Library Atrium on the SIU Carbondale campus. Admission is free and no reservations are required.
  • Friday, December 14 at 7:30 p.m., at Walker's Bluff Winery. For tickets and availability, call MC Olsen at 863-398-8104.
  • Saturday, December 15 at 10:00 a.m., in Altgeld Hall, Room 112 on the SIUC campus in a special "Klassics for Kids" performance.
