SIU Professor of Percussion Releases New Methods Book
SIU School of Music Associate Professor of Practice in Percussion, Christopher Butler, announces a new publication. The book, “Mastering Sight-Reading for Keyboard Percussion,” will be releasing soon with publisher Meredith Music. Butler gives some insight about the inspiration for the book;
“Inspired by the dot-exercises from James Campbell at the University of Kentucky, this method book expands that concept to four mallets and the grand staff. With an absurd amount of flexibility, this method can be crafted to improve all levels from beginner to professional percussionist. It is my hope that this can be an important contribution to our pedagogical repertoire.”
