ARLENE TRANSUE spent four seasons with the Ohio Light Opera appearing as the title role in Rose Marie, Fiorella in The Brigands, Rose Maybud in Ruddigore, Caslida in The Gondoliers, Arsena in The Gypsy Baron, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Mercury in Orpheus in the Underworld, Beatrice in Boccaccio, and Mrs. Mullin inCarousel.  Originally from Newfoundland, Ms. Transue was a member of the Vancouver Opera Touring Ensemble for two seasons where she performed Pamina in The Magic Flute and Rosina in The Barber of Seville.   In Toronto, she performed Sandrina in La Finta Giardinieria, Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Violetta in La Traviata, Polly in The Three Penny Opera, Musetta in La Bohême, Fido in Paul Bunyan, and Constance in Dialogue des Carmelites. 

        Ms. Transue has performed in a variety of concert settings in British Columbia, Alaska, and Newfoundland, and she has performed oratorios with several groups including a performance of Handel’sMessiah with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra.  In addition to having a degree in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto, she holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Masters of Music in Voice Performance from the University of British Columbia. In addition to teaching voice at SIU and at John A. Logan College, she runs her own private voice studio and is the Choir Director at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.  She can be heard on a number of recordings released through the Ohio Light Opera on the Albany Records label.
