ESL Writing Center - Faner 3221

The ESL Writing Center works to support the writing needs of non-native speakers/writers of English on SIU’s campus. The ESL writing tutors can help students at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming new ideas to revising drafts.

All SIU students that are non-native speakers of English are welcome to walk-in to our center in Faner 3221 to get writing assistance in sessions up to 20 minutes. If there is a student already receiving help when you arrive, there will be a sign on the door so that you can secure the next slot.

Walk-in Center Hours - Spring 2020

Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00 AM—12:00 PM

Tuesday & Thursday 11:00 AM—2:00 PM

Preparing for your Visit

Make sure you have read your assignment carefully. It is a good idea to bring a printed copy of the assignment sheet, if you have it.

Print a copy of whatever you have written or completed so far.

Consider what your goals are for the visit. What do you want the tutor to help you with? Having already thought about your goals will help your tutor better meet your needs.
