Advisement and Mentoring
Advising on courses and career options is accomplished collectively through the individual student, the College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Advisement Office, and a Geography and Environmental Resources faculty member who will serve as your mentor.
Your Initial Contact with Geography and Environmental Resources
When you become a Geography and Environmental Resources major, the department secretary will begin a file for you that will include a record of your contacts with Geography and Environmental Resources advisors. This will include the courses you have taken, notes on recommendations by the advisors, and other relevant information that will help us advise you efficiently as you progress towards graduation. Please be certain that your email and mailing addresses are always current in your file!
Upon declaring a Geography and Environmental Resources major, students will be assigned a faculty mentor. The faculty mentoring team consists of:
- Environmental Sustainability: Dr. Leslie Duram
- Geographic Information Science: Dr. Guangxing Wang
- Climate and Water Resources: Dr. Justin Schoof
Arranging Mentoring Sessions
The mentors prefer that you see them during their office hours. Please contact your mentor via email or by phone. Addresses and numbers may be found on their individual webpages (see above links).
