Support for Graduate Students
Travel to Conferences
We encourage our graduate students to present at professional conferences. SIU offers several sources that a graduate student can obtain funds for their travel. The Graduate and Professional Student Council provides $75 for attending a conference, and $150 for presenting at a conference. There is a limit of receiving $150 per academic year. These funds are available year-round (forms are available here).
Graduate students presenting a poster or paper at a conference may apply for support from our college and the Graduate School. Please note the restrictions on the Graduate School's website. The Department of Geography and Environmental Resources also provides modest support for graduate students to present their research at national conferences.
GSPC also offers $250 research awards for graduate research or presentations. Check their website for when applications are due.
Through the Priscilla Anne Moulton Memorial Fund, we can offer limited reimbursement of expenses incurred for graduate research. This is not to support travel to a conference or meeting, but to support the research for your thesis document.
