I am from Caen in Normandy, France; where I was teaching English in middle school.

I came at SIU to be a French T.A. but the classes I took for the 9 required credit hours were so interesting that I decided to register for the Master’s degree in International Relations. I am also trying to get the Certificate in Sustainable Development from the Geography Department.

My interests are International Relations in general; with a focus on Middle East and European politics, and NGOs (though I find interest in a lot of things); and also Sustainable Development.

In my doctoral effort, I am interested in ethics in public administration. Particularly, the priority public administrators place on bureaucratic and/or democratic values in their work as well as the effectiveness of the role of graduate public administration education in either helping formulate or reinforce those values.

My Name is Abdurraouf Elkader. People call me Abdurraouf Alyoncee, which is my extended family's sir name. I am from Tajura, the largest suburb of the Libyan capital, Tripoli. I received my Bachelor in Political Science from the Economic and Political Science College at the University of Tripoli as a first rank student in 2007. I received my master's degree in Political Science from Western Illinois University in 2014, earning a 4.00 GPA. Currently, I am working toward my doctorate in comparative politics and international relations at Southern Illinois University. After completing my doctoral program, I will return to Libya to engage in Libyan politics.

Prior to coming to SIUC, I was a Research Assistant for the Legislative Research Unit in Springfield, Illinois; my experience in field politics inspires my work as an educator and a researcher. My research focuses on the role of interpersonal networks in voter attitudes and behavior; I also have interests in civic engagement and media and politics.

Kimberly Turner

Kimberly Turner received a B.A in political science DePaul University and an M.A. in political science from Loyola University Chicago.

Prior to attending SIUC, Kimberly interned with United Nations Association of the USA at the New York Headquarters with UN access privileges. She also was a graduate intern with the US State Department in Port au Prince, Haiti. She has extensive teaching experience both in the classroom and online.

Current Research Interests: comparative populist movements, the political economy of revolutions, social capital and conflict initiation.

I play guitar, bass, keyboards, etc. (classic rock, esp. Pink Floyd), and I enjoy hiking the trails around campus and beyond.
