LEGAL ASSISTANT

Feirich/Mager/Green/Ryan is seeking a legal assistant to work in its Transactional Department, which includes matters concerning: Probate, Estate Planning, Real Estate and Business. The successful candidate will have an ability to communicate effectively with clients, work independently and organize multiple tasks. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, digital dictation equipment and other office equipment is important. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment. Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to multitask are imperative to succeed in this position. There is room for growth in this position depending upon job performance as the firm has a history of promoting legal assistants to paralegals in the right circumstances.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare exhibits and pleadings and file the same electronically with the courts
  • Manage attorney calendar for hearing dates, follow-ups, conference calls, copy due dates, and other miscellaneous appointments
  • Follow-up up with attorneys and staff members to ensure that deadlines are not missed
  • Prepare client correspondence as well as correspondence to the courts
  • Sorting and filing of documents received from clients and the courts
  • Transcription of matters dictated by attorneys

Qualifications:

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor Degree is a plus
  • Paralegal Studies Degree from an ABA-approved program is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Skilled in Microsoft Word & Outlook
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Byline Bank is currently seeking an SBA Loan Reviewer to complete a thorough review of loan files, ensuring they are accurate, complete, and closed in accordance with Small Business Administration (SBA) application and guidelines, the original loan approval, and Bank policy. The Loan Reviewer will be responsible for ensuring there are no material exceptions, thereby preserving the loan’s government guarantee.

Through our SBA Lending model, we are able to provide customers access to capital for small businesses so that they have the resources they need to grow and thrive. The SBA program offers a general purpose loan to small businesses that are creditworthy but face difficulty obtaining conventional financing. SBA Loan Reviewer Core Responsibilities:

  • Review all pre-closing due diligence documentation prior to closing of SBA (7a and 504) loans (i.e. Corporation/LLC/Partnership documents, flood certification, appraisal, title policy, survey, environmental, insurance coverage, real estate tax status, collateral description, UCC search, invoices, bill of sale, etc.)
  • Review all loan closing documents for accuracy, ensuring all loans comply with the SBA Authorization, bank approval and loan policy.
  • Post-closing, reconcile commercial disbursements and the associated audit trail.
  • Respond to internal inquiries relating to exceptions from all levels of the organization.
  • Review the checklist to ensure that all of the required documentation has been collected.
  • Issue requests for missing/incomplete loan-related documentation.

Requirements:

  • Ability to review legal documents with complex language with an attention to detail and understanding to interpret correctly.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift frequently.
  • Exceptional analytical, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
  • Strong ability to work in a team-based environment.

  • Knowledge of SBA 7a, 504 and CAPline programs and documentation extremely helpful.

  • Complete a detailed review of the loan approval to determine borrowers, guarantors, collateral and other required closing conditions. Requesting any needed corrections or additions to the loan approval.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the loan file, including all packaging documents, satisfaction of credit conditions and compliance with SBA lending requirements.
  • Work directly with documentation attorney to ensure that the necessary loan documents are prepared and all legal requirements and recommendations are satisfied.
  • Provide accurate, regular updates to clients, lenders and management.
  • Audit loan file for completeness and to determine that all bank requirements and guidelines have been met or obtain the appropriate documentation to reflect approval of an exception to requirements.
  • Review signed loan document packages to ensure that documents are correctly signed, all outstanding conditions have been received or follows up to obtain missing documentation.
  • Order loan documents after verifying that all prior loan document conditions have been met, submit loan documents for review and complete by providing signatures or coordinating with the title company for signatures.
  • Collect invoices and prepare internal closing statement ensuring all appraisals, environmental, title and other search fees are accounted for.
