Theater Auditions for Spring 2015

The SIU Department of Theater will hold auditions for spring 2015 productions of “The Children’s Hour” by Lillian Hellman and “Last Seen Alice” by Jaclyn Grogan. Auditions will be held Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, 7 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, 1 p.m. in the McLeod Theater.

There are roles in “The Children’s Hour” for 12 women and two men who play age ranges between 12-65 years. “Last Seen Alice” has roles for 3 women and one man who play age ranges between 20-60 years.

Interested actors should prepare a short (one-two minute) contemporary monologue, either comic or serious. There will be monologues to read for non-majors and members of the community. All SIU students and members of the community are welcome.

Callbacks will be held Sunday, Jan. 26, 2015, time TBA and may include improvisation and creative dramatics techniques plus script readings

“The Children’s Hour” is directed by Anne Fletcher and will be performed April 23-26 in the McLeod Theater. “Last Seen Alice” is directed by Susan Patrick Benson and will perform March 26-29 in the C.H. Moe Theater as the featured production for the 2015 Big Muddy New Play Festival. Directors of the Big Muddy New Play Festival staged reading productions will also be at the auditions.

Actors may sign up for an audition appointment in the Department of Theater main office Mon.-Fri. 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (closed noon -1 p.m.) or call the office at 618/453-5741 beginning Jan. 20. You may also sign in on site one half hour before the auditions.
