KLASSICS FOR KIDS

Klassics for Kids are interactive concerts, designed to expose children to the joys of live classical music. Parents and care-givers are encouraged to help youngsters develop skills appropriate to a live performance in an informal atmosphere. The SISO once again presents its highly acclaimed concert series for young persons: Klassics for Kids. The 2017-18 series includes two concerts for pre-Kindergarten through 3rd grade and one concert for all school age children. Admission is FREE to all Klassics for Kids events and no advance reservations are necessary. Pre-K programs take place at 10:00am on November 7, 2017 and March 6, 2018 in Altgeld Hall Room 112 on the SIUC campus. These concerts are especially to encourage listening skills for younger audiences and include interactive activities. A special concert for school age children takes place at 10:00am at Shryock Auditorium on the SIUC campus on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. This concert features the full symphony orchestra and include instrument demonstrations.

KLASSICS FOR KIDS AND JIVE WITH JAZZ Klassics for Kids and Jive with Jazz are interactive concerts, designed to expose children to the joys of live classical music and jazz. The 2013 Festival presents Klassics for Kids and/or Jive with Jazz programs at Marion Civic Center, Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale, Carterville Fine Arts Academy, The Old Feed Store in Cobden, Cairo Public Library, Herrin Civic Center, Renascence House in Makanda, Murphysboro Youth and Recreation Center, the University Mall and at Altgeld Hall on the SIU Carbondale campus. All events are open to the public without reservation and admission free. Klassics for Kids is sponsored in part by Southern Illinois Ob-Gyn Associates and WSIU Public Broadcasting.
