Message from Dr. Lausell

Welcome to the 2nd edition of our guitar festival. This year we are branching out even further! Thanks to the collaboration of our School of Music at SIUC and Faculdade de Música do Espírito Santo "Maurício de Oliveira" in Brazil we are receiving professor and classical guitarist Moacyr Teixeira Neto as our international guest artist. We are also pleased to bring back familiar faces such as Cuban drummer Fidel Morales joined by my esteemed colleague and bass guitarist Gabriel Rodriguez. Both of them are professors at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music. Also joining us for the first time at this event from Chicago we have Jazz guitarist and educator professor Steve Jacobson. This will be a memorable experience in which International and National artists perform and join to share the traditions and the innovations of the guitar all around the globe. Saddle up for a 3-day adventure into the sonic landscapes of the guitar in its multiple manifestations.
