Faculty & Staff
The SIU Summer Music Camp faculty includes acclaimed conductors, musicians, and music educators from the Southern Illinois University School of Music, the Chicago and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras, and Big Ten and SEC Universities.
Our dedicated counseling staff is hand-selected from outstanding future music educators at Southern Illinois University, as well as practicing public school music teachers.
Counselors supervise all student activities during and after the rehearsal/class day, including supervision in the dormotories. They are on 24-hour call throughout the duration of the camp, and can assist with any special student needs.
Students who chose Resident Status are housed in the newly-renovated SIU Towers. A short walking distance to campus and to the School of Music, each residence hall is air-conditioned for comfortable sleeping and evening activities. Students share a room with one other participant, and requests among campers a specific person for his or her roommate are honored.
You can make this request on our CAMP REGISTRATION FORM.
To ensure that every student be presented with a healthy meal option during their time at camp, meals are now provided as part of the camp fee for both Resident and Commuting campers. Campers will be issued a meal card during camp registration, which they may use at any meal location of their choice in the SIU Student Center. A wide variety of healthy meals are available, including vegetarian dishes. For a change a pace, the Student Center also offers a wide range of fast food options, including Chick-fil-A, Sbarro and Starbucks. Meals begin with breakfast on Monday and are served through lunch on Friday.
In addition to fun-filled campus events and recreational activities, Summer Music Campers will experience:
- Full and Section rehearsals
- Music Classes
- Lessons with SIU School of Music faculty
