Language and Culture Programs
Learn another language, and you can experience another culture from the inside. That will enrich your life—and your career prospects. We offer major specializations in Spanish, German, East Asian Language and Culture (Japanese or Chinese), and Classics (with optional study in Latin). And we are happy to offer new minors in ASL (American Sign Language) and Mythology.
Students in Spanish and German can enter SIU’s Teacher Education Program and earn the license to pursue a career in K-12 language teaching.
