2011 Rickert-Ziebold Winners
Southern Illinois University Carbondale, School of Art and Design’s RZ Committee would like to congratulate this year’s 2011 Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award competition winners, Phillip Carrier and Wesley Valdez (photos below from University Communications).
Phillip Carrier (above) with his mixed media installation , "Adaptive Perception," and Wes Valdez (below) shown with one piece from his glass and metal sculpture series, "Being Human Being."
Carrier and Valdez were chosen from a talented group of 11 senior candidates (see list of finalists below) from the School of Art and Design. The two winners will share a $15,000 trust award.
The estate of the late Marguerite L. Rickert-Ziebold endows the awards in honor of the Joseph Rickert family. Joseph Rickert was a prominent lawyer and state senator from Waterloo.The reception for the Rickert-Ziebold winners will be held Friday, April 15, in the Surplus Gallery located in the Studio Arts Building also known as the Glove Factory. The reception hours are from 5:30pm. to 8:00pm. with the awards ceremony at 6:30pm. The Rickert-Ziebold reception is free and open to the public.
