2017 Fall Iron Pour

Event begins at 12pm until done.

image of iron pourPlease join us at the Fall Cast Iron Event. The Sculpture Program is proud to host guest artists from the Paducah School of Art & Design and Washington University. This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcomed to participate by purchasing scratch blocks to create a personalized artwork that will be poured during the event.

Rain dates: November 12th or November 18th.

2017 SIMS Conference

Friday - Saturday, October 27-28, 2017

The Southern Illinois Metalsmiths Society (SIMS) will host its annual conference and fine art auction Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th. This year's visiting artists are James Austin and Lee Sauder.

The conference is open to the public. Registration at the door costs $35 and includes dinner and entry to the auction. The public demonstration is free for SIU students.

SIMS is a student organization in Blacksmithing and Metalsmithing program at SIU.

Empty Bowls 2017

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 21ST, 2017, 11am - 1pm

Empty Bowls is an event where art meets hunger, compassion & advocacy; where talented art students create beautiful ceramic bowls & offer them for the small price of from $10-$15.

All proceeds go to Good Samaritan House in Carbondale, IL to support their efforts in feeding those in the local community who might otherwise go without food.

Join us at the Neighborhood Co-op (1815 W Main St - Murdale Shopping Center) to purchase your own Hand-crafted bowl & enjoy a warm cup of delicious soup donated by the Co-op while considering the less fortunate.

Annual Open Studio

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 13TH, 2017, 3-8 PM

MFA students in the School of Art and Design will host visitors, faculty, friends and community members in their studios and through out the Art and Design buildings. Snacks and refreshments will be served in each area. Everyone is invited to walk through and meet graduate students and see their artwork, observe work in progress, and watch studio demonstrations. The event will be followed by a reception and cookout in the Glove Factory Surplus Gallery as well as a display of faculty work. See maps below.
