SIU Student reads on Campus

We are proud to be one of the most academically diverse colleges of SIU, housing 12 academic programs in 6 Schools, plus dynamic research and resource centers unique to SIU. Our community includes undergraduate and graduate students, pursuing degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels.

We purposefully integrate the arts, humanities, and social sciences, creating a unique liberal arts educational experience. Having more areas of study with fewer barriers, we empower students to find creative ways to blend insights gained from different academic approaches.

What this means is that your degree is your degree. Our academic units work together to give you the choices you want to personalize your liberal arts education. You can even build your own custom bachelor’s degree using our University Studies program. At CoLA, you will find the opportunities that you want and study the fields that interest you.

Did You Know?

Much of the international flavor of the SIU campus is thanks to the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), an intensive English program with an established international reputation.

Students from all over the world come to Carbondale to learn or improve their English language skills and their understanding of American culture. We are the first step for thousands of students eager to learn.

Important Student Resources

The latest version of the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Student Conduct Code was released for the 2021-2022 academic year.
